Europe Day 6: Paris
Let's chat next time
Ahhhhh, Paris. I heard so much about you. Yes, I have arrived and departed you three times in one month. Like we we kept bumping into each other awkwardly at the aisle, cash register, and parking pay point while at the mall. But I don’t really know you. Yes I have seen your airport, your airport hotel section, three of your major train stations, a couple of city trains, and a metro. Yes I did walk the 800 or so meters between Paris Est and Paris Nord stations (I thought they would be further apart by their names). That one street seemed friendly, bustling - a city in a small town vibe. Your stations were a maze, crowded, busy, medium-fast. Your people were planetary with cool destinations to get to. Your trains took me across you so many times and they took so long. You are sprawling! People said that your city odour is not so pleasing, but you seemed fine to me. I did not see much of you. I did not fully walk your streets, my apologies. I had walked many steps in different cities, I had none more left to give.
Maybe there will be a next time, but maybe there will not. We might never get to know each other further. We might never get that coffee sometime.
