Europe Day 6: Mannheim to Strasbourg
Navigating the triangle of Alsace
Dear viewers and readers of the #formaltravelarchive
Today’s post doesn’t come with the high standard of photographic quality and quantity that you have come to expect.

This particular leg of the journey, from Mannheim to Strasburg involved a couple of tricky transfers, three different forms of rail transport as well as a border crossing. It started off smoothly with a Mannheim to Offenburg connection which was spacious, efficient and comfortable. However, due to an alleged lack of running of a train from Offenburg to Strasburg, it was necessary to quickly jump onto a regional train to Kehl (just after the German/French border and after crossing the Rhine) and then take a tram (route D) from the start of its line (which played a different tune for every stop) to the main Strasburg Train station. As this was early morning and most of the passengers were commuters, it was impossible not to stand out as a tourist with a large pink suitcase. For this reason and the focus on ensuring that one was not going to get lost in the Alsace triangle, photographs were not taken. It was necessary to stay present. In the end the Strasbourg train station was reached without difficulty and there was the added bonus of having experienced a Strasbourg-ian daily commute.
This hashtag has let you down and can only promise to do better in the last few posts to complete the archive of this journey.
