Europe Day 3: Zagreb to Salzburg
Moving Desktop Background
I thought that train journeys, like any time spent on modes of transportation, would give me a chance to do some holiday reading, prepare for return to work, try out some games I had downloaded and maybe even ponder life. But it was very quickly apparent, especially on this Zagreb to Salzburg line, that doing anything else other than looking out the window would be a waste.
Indeed, a reason for choosing a train journey was to have the opportunity to watch the world change outside a window (and not just on TV with the Netflix Slow Train from Bergen to Oslo). To be present for the shifts in the scenery and the incremental metamorphosis of landscapes. To feel the flow of the journey by seeing the places along its path. The train window gives you the time to wonder and imagine what happens in all these places strung out between departure and destination.
For cricket fans, I suppose that it is like favouring a five day test match over a T20.
