The Museum of Broken Relationships
Muzej Prekinutih Veza (The Museum of Broken Relationships - @brokenships), hits you in the feels, even if you thought you had out-aged them. It seems so domestic: exhibits of objects which were donated by people from a relationship of theirs that ended, together with a note that curates a bit of context. A half finished post-it note that never got given to one’s lover was the first exhibit I encountered, and it floored me. I knew that post-it! I had done that gesture!!
I was not prepared for this.
Maybe because the objects are physically there, ready to touch, you realize that these people, once in love, those were their everyday things. But now, they are simply triggers of a ghost story.
You ride through this profound emotional rollercoaster, where you feel that you have loved and lost in a multitude of uniquely distinct but instantly familiar ways. All that in an evening, before the sun had set, on a summer Sunday in Zagreb.
